Anyone up for a ride?

Hello friends. Hope everyone is enjoying this nice spring weather we’re having here in the piedmont of North Carolina. We wanted to let you all know about some key bike rides that the Mock Orange has going this week.

As today is Tuesday, the “Tuesday Night Special” will leave the shop at its normal time of 6 pm (ish). So, come on out and enjoy some biking around town this evening. If you rode really hard over the weekend, this is a great recovery. If you are just getting back into biking, this is a great ride. The ride itself is a 15 - 17 miler in and around Winston-Salem. The pace is extremely casual. So, come on out for some biking this evening!

The MOB Women’s Ride will return to the road this week. This ride is great for women who like to ride road bikes. Less training, more fresh air is what this ride is all about. Meet at the shop at 12 noon.

Also, the Saturday morning ride this week promises to be really nice. We will leave the shop at the normal time of 10 am, head out to Germanton via Baux Mountain Road, and do a nice loop out on the north side of town. This ride this week will probably end up being a three and a half hour ride, close to 60 miles in length, at a casual and enjoyable pace. The weather should be awesome, so put this one on your calendar for this weekend.

This Saturday is going to be extra fun because at 2:45 pm a super sweet mountain bike ride will be leaving from the shop. This ride will transpire at Hobby Park in Winston-Salem. So, meet at the shop at 2:45 if you need to follow someone to Hobby, or meet at Hobby at 3:00. This ride will surely be a blast because the MOB MTB crew really likes the dirt. So take care of your errands or housework in the morning and head over to Hobby Park for some great singletrack action.

Thanks, and we’ll see you soon for a bike ride!

National Day of Climate Action, April 14, 2007

As part of "Step It Up 2007", the largest day of citizen action focusing on global warming in our nation's history, we will be hosting two bike rides from the shop. The 10 am road ride will leave as normal from MOB, this week being around a 50 mile round trip, and there will also be a a super mellow and fun ride for all sorts of bikes or other human powered vehicles leaving at 10:30. This ride will be approximately 12 miles. These rides are in addition to the MOB Women's ride. The women's ride is road oriented this week and will leave the shop at 12 noon. This is a social ride for women who like to ride road bikes. So come on out this Saturday and be a part of this national day of climate action! For more information please visit www.stepitup2007.org.

Also, this Saturday is "Healthy Kids Day" at Hanes Park across from the shop. Sponsored by the Central YMCA, this event will have many informational outlets for the whole family. Cyclesafe, Winston-Salem's bicycle safety resource, will be on hand to educate children on proper helmet fitting. They will also have Kids Bell Helmets available for an inexpensive purchase price of $5. As we all know, there is no better activity for kids than going for a bike ride! So come on out and support healthy kids this weekend.
